Participant feedback on four KMEIA Level Courses from 2017
I didn’t have a strong sense of what to expect – but in many ways the course exceeded my expectations in its ideas and wonderfully clear application in the classrooms. The clarity of the Kodaly sequencing was superb. This was great course for developing clear structure to my teaching.
Wonderful, engaging games that my students all adore.
The course was full of wonderful revelations such as “don’t sing with the students”.
This course should be compulsory for anyone studying to become a classroom music teacher. It made a mockery of my Dip. Ed. – this was so much richer and more relevant. Congrats to KMEIA on an excellent course that challenged and enlightened me with every twist and turn.
Before the course I had only a brief knowledge of the Kodaly method, and I thought it was mainly about learning the solfa names and hand signs. This course had completely changed my understanding of Kodaly, and my entire teaching methods. The sequential strategies provide a roadmap for students to gain a practical understanding of the elements of music while learning in a hands on and engaging environment.
While the course was a lot of extra work on top of an already busy teaching workload, it was worth giving up time on my weekends to develop and improve my teaching skills and Kodaly pedagogy.
This course is absolutely worth doing if you teach using the Kodaly philosophy. It tied together everything we had learnt in the first two levels, and gave me a much clearer idea of how to apply all of this to my teaching, where half of the students have had little to no musical experience, and half have had two or more years of Kodaly method.
Kodaly Level 2 is an excellent course….a must for any Primary Music teacher. The content and methodology is fantastic. Teaching Music in a school would be difficult without the knowledge acquired in this course. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and learned so much.
The Kodaly Course Level 2 reinforced all the teaching concepts introduced in level 1. With classroom resources i.e. songs, strategies and practice activities, the course is comprehensive and will equip the music teacher with lots of great ideas!
Participant feedback on Courses in 2014
This course has had a significant impact on how I approach instrumental, choral and classroom teaching, resulting in a greater musical understanding from my students.
ET, Secondary Level 1, St. Kevins College, 2014
The best part of the course was learning practical songs and games each week, they were things that you could take out of the lectures and try the next day with your students.
Also the clear delivery of the methodology was great.
JM, Primary Level 2, Narre Warren, 2014
Completing the Level 1 Primary Teaching course has really benefited both my professional practice and knowledge. I am now more confident in understanding how to plan engaging, efficient and valuable classroom music lessons.
MC, Primary Level 1, Mill Park, 2014
Susan was very encouraging and reassuring and I am so grateful as I ended up loving the course and feel that I have learned many new skills that will help me in my music teaching career.
